Protest action of railways workers

Some 100 trade unionists from three trade union centres organized a rally in railway station in Bydgoszcz against the dramatic situation of Polish railways. This was a part of a broader protest action of the sector.

“We do not agree upon the downfall of our railways and bankruptcy of many companies of the sector” said the participants. They demand a broad and urgent discussion and remedy measures for railways system in Poland. The unionists objected the governmental plans of transferring substantial funds from the railways to roads construction, and also criticized the chaos in the railways system and lack of significant investment which would improve both the infrastructure and travelling conditions of passengers.

The action in Bydgoszcz will be followed by similar rallies in other cities, and the unions do not exclude a strike action unless their demands are taken into account.
