Protests in Kaufland chain stores

A long and complex campaign in defence of workers’ rights and working conditions has been conducted in Kaufland supermarkets network in various cities across Poland. The workers, supported by local union structures, organized rallies and marches, handed out thousands of leaflets describing their situation to customers. Among the demands of the employees are:

•        reduction of performance norms by 10% in distribution centres;
•        increase of wages by 100 PLN for each worker;
•        payment of holiday bonus of 500 PLN for each worker;
•        indefinite labour contracts for the employed workers;
•        improvement of health and safety conditions;
•        respecting the right to organize.

The protest action took place in Kaufland centres in Ruda Slaska, Pila, Piaseczno and Wroclaw. The management by far avoids negotiations in an attempt to postpone any talks to the next year.
