Increase of the salaries for the teachers

14 Jan. - Finances in education for the year 2008 (including remunerations and retirements for the teachers) and social dialogue in education department - these are main problems of the discussion between the Minister of Education Katarzyna Hall and the Presidium of the National Section of Education of NSZZ "S".

Stefan Kubowicz , chairman of the National Section of Education of NSZZ "S" presented the demands of "Solidarnosc" on Friday 11th of January. The basic remuneration rates for the 2008 year should be increased by minimum 10% in the remuneration scale. For the years 2009-2011 teachers' salaries should increase by minimum 10% plus the inflation rate. Resources for the teachers' remunerations should be transferred to the local governments as subsidies but not subventions.

During the meeting the educational "S" also noticed the need for the medical care at schools as well as the health prevention.

The Minister of Education Katarzyna Hall promised to analyse the demands connected with the year 2008 and to present her answer during the negotiations scheduled for the 16th of January.
