Strike in BCT

25 March -  NSZZ "Solidarnosc" of the Baltic Container Terminal in Gdynia demanded increase of their remunerations and safety at work. There was a strike organized by "S" and other trade union since 20th of March. Employees demanded increases, but the employer did not want to accept the demanded amount.

Two rounds of the negotiations were conducted after the beginning of the strike and the employer rejected the demands of "Solidarnosc" and broke off the negotiations. The Unions made great concessions about increases to the employers. Trade unionists threatened to strike for as long as it takes.

They emphasized, that their demands should not be a very charge to the company, which declares enormous income. At that moment average worker's wage in BTC is rather small.

International Transport Workers Organization ITF supports striking staff.

On the day of 21-th of March NSZZ "Solidarnosc" organized a picket in front of the BTC gate. Except increase of wages striking workers request safety and hygiene of their work and not sending them for forced unpaid leaves.

The strike ended in the beginning of April, with agreement of increase of wages.
