24 May. "Solidarnosc" of the Health Care sector demanded the government to sign an agreement on implementing the sectoral demands until June 16th.

Health care sector representatives met with the Minister of Health and reached an agreement on development of legal principles of employment and increase of public spending on the health care to 4.7% over the next 3 years.

Increase of salaries remains an unsolved question. NSZZ "S", OPZZ and Trade Union Forum accepted the governmental proposals on condition that the increase will be implemented on October 1st, however doctors organised in the National Doctors' Trade Union rejects the offer and demands immediate increase.

The Council of the National Section of Health Care of "S" issued a following statement:

The Council of the National Section of Health Care of NSZZ "Solidarnosc" having heard the information of the chiefs of Regional Sections of Health Care from all over the country demands the government of Poland to sign until June 16th an agreement taking into consideration following demands:

  • Increase of financial spending on the health care and clear defining of the amount and time of introduction;
  • Increase of wages of all employees in the sector in 2006 with clear deadline
  • Immediate work on legal regulation of the working conditions and remuneration of the employees of health care.

At the same time we appeal to enterprise commissions of NSZZ "Solidarnosc" to prepare a protest action. We are warning that non-implementing of the agreed demands may lead to more radical position of the National Section of Health Care.
