Statement of the National Commission of NSZZ ”Solidarnosc”

The National Commission of NSZZ "Solidarnosc" expresses its opinion that the crisis in Polish economy and finances is deepening and the government constantly evades public recognition of this fact.

The government diverts the public opinion from the most important matters and escapes from activities counteracting the effects of the crisis. We are indignant about the attempts to burden the social partners from the Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Affairs with responsibility for lack of governmental response to the anti-crisis package presented over 2 months ago. It is a constitutional duty of the government to care about the safety of Polish citizens.

We are still looking forward to an agreement favourable for the workers and Polish economy in the matter of anti-crisis package. However, as the weeks go by in vain, the National Commission decides that in case of a fiasco of the negotiations in the Tripartite Commission until 10 June 2009, the Union will organise a national protest action.
